Where are you located?
We’re at 1826 Frederick, right next door to Missouri Glass and across the street from the Hi-Ho and Gold-n-Glaze.
Can I ride there?
Yes, our location is great because it’s right in the center of town and close to the Parkway paths and trails. Indoor bike parking is also available.
If I’m driving, where should I park?
The easiest place to park, especially if it’s a busy time of day on Frederick, is either on the south side of Frederick or on 19th Street. You can also park behind us on Union Street.
What kinds of bikes do you work on?
Our focus is on performance level bicycles, however, we can handle repairs on department store bikes as well.
What are your service qualifications?
Brent completed the following courses at United Bicycle Institute: Introduction to Bicycle Maintenance, Professional Repair and Shop Operations, UBI/DT Swiss Wheel Building, and Suspension Technician. He has also been certified in Bosch E-bike systems and had 2.5 years experience working in service at Horizon Cycling before opening Tubes.
Do you work on e-bikes?
We are certified on Bosch e-bike motors and electrical systems. We can perform standard bicycle repair on most other e-bikes, however, the battery will need to be removed prior, due to fire hazards. No repairs- electrical or otherwise- on class 2 bikes (with a throttle).
Do you service suspension components?
We do provide basic suspension services for most current forks and shocks, such as seal replacement, dust wiper/oil bath service, volume spacers installation, etc. Due to specialized tools and bleed procedures, major suspension overhauls are not serviced at Tubes but we would be more than happy to remove and ship these repairs out of house.
Do you work on gas-powered bicycles?
Unfortunately not, due to fire and safety hazards.
Do you restore vintage bikes?
We do not provide any finish work such as paint or rust removal. If the bike hasn’t been neglected or left out in the weather, we may be able to service things like bearings, brakes, and drivetrains. If it has been out in the yard or the barn for several years, most likely we are not the right shop to help. We also don’t have access to vintage parts through our suppliers.
Do you work on electric scooters?
No, due to fire hazards.
Do you work on wheelchairs or walkers?
We can replace wheelchair tubes if they are a common bicycle tube sizes. We are more than happy to look at other systems on wheelchairs and walkers that use bicycle components as well. Some items may not be able to be repaired at Tubes.
Do you carry bikes in the shop?
Yes, we do! We now carry a variety of Salsa Cycles in our shop.
Can I make an appointment?
Yes, we welcome appointments. Completion time may vary depending on repairs and parts, however, we will do our best to accommodate your needs- whether you are coming from out of town or have an important ride/event scheduled.
Do you offer same day, on the spot service?
We will always strive to get you back out on the road or trails ASAP. Most minor items such as tube replacements and brake or shifting adjustments can be performed on the spot or within a few hours, depending on how busy the shop is.
